Full Name: Alexander Buchler

Alexander (Sanyi) Buchler of Rockaway, NJ was born on July 19, 1924 in Vrable Slovakia, and died on his 97th birthday. He was a Holocaust survivor and escaped a death march from a labor camp to Mautthausen using a Wallenberg document. He later hid in Budapest where he helped rescue Jewish children. After the war he moved to Prague and then to Israel in 1949. He married Judy, the love of his life, in Tel Aviv in 1951 and worked in the diamond industry. They moved to the U.S. with their two children in 1960 and lived in the Bronx and then Queens. Alex worked in the watch industry and was the watch repair supervisor for RADO Watch Company. He later was the owner of JULEX Watch and Jewelry with his wife Judy. They moved to New Jersey in 2003. He was a member of the Chaverim Club of Fox Hills and enjoyed attending Café Europa. 

He is survived by his wife of seventy years Judy, his daughters Edna (Steve) and Nitza (Mike), four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He will be remembered forever for his love of family, his sense of humor, his generosity and his survivor instincts.
