February 5, 1955 – March 16, 2023
On March 16, 2023, Belen Orfilia Miranda Murillo Delgado of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, passed away at the age of 68. Belen was born in Costa Rica and immigrated to her new home in the United States in 1972. Belen married Antonio Delgado on June 20, 1975 and this year would mark their 48th wedding anniversary.
Belen became a beautician and took pride in helping people look their best. Her vision and creativity were the foundation to the eventual establishment of her own business, Belen’s Head to Toes. She also worked at
Nabisco in Fair Lawn.
Belen was a beautiful and genuine human being whose caring and love knew no bounds for her family. Belen was always present for her children and would do anything to help them at a moment’s notice. Belen referred to her children as her most beautiful gift and what she was most proud of. She was a doting grandmother to her grandson, Tyler, who brought so much happiness to her life and whom she enjoyed dancing with.
For the majority of Belen’s life she battled rheumatoid arthritis, pulmonary fibrosis, fibromyalgia and coronary heart disease. She battled her illnesses to the last day with incredible grace and dignity. When asked how she was feeling, Belen would smile and say, “Pura Vida!” Belen attended a s many family events as she could. She was known as the life of every family gathering and even created a special family occasion which she named “Your Day”. The name she chose for that day says it all. She was a kind soul who consistently gave more than she took and will always be remembered by her generosity. Her fun loving character positively impacted every person she knew.
Belen appreciated nature and often shared fond memories spent in the “campo” in her beloved Costa Rica. Belen’s spirit will always be felt especially when it rains since she loved the rain and the calm it brought her.
Belen’s strong faith gave her hope and kept her heart at peace. In her pursuit of spiritual growth, she developed bonds with her brothers and sisters in faith during study. Belen made it her personal mission to share that faith and spiritual knowledge with everyone she came in contact with.
Belen is survived by her beloved husband Antonio Delgado, her children Tony Delgado (Renee), Jennifer Delgado, Danny Delgado, and grandchild, Tyler Delgado; siblings Angela Miranda Murillo, Maria Miranda Murillo Bermudez (Raul), Jorge Miranda Murillo (Margoth), Sergio Miranda Murillo (Haydee).
