General Information

Full Name: Berta S. Fromme
Date of Death: Wednesday, October 23, 2024

Berta Fromme August 22, 1935 – October 23, 2024

Berta Fromme, beloved wife, mother, and Oma, passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born in Bad Cannstatt, Germany, on August 22, 1935, Berta’s life journey took her across continents. As a baby, she survived the Shoah and escaped with her family to Israel and later to America, where she found a home filled with love and warmth.

Berta was married to her devoted husband Sherman for 50 years, after being widowed by her first husband, Erwin Novack, in 1972. She was a pillar of strength for her family, raising three children who, along with her six grandchildren, were the light of her life. Berta cherished family above all and was known for the deep and lifelong friendships she nurtured, some lasting since her childhood days.

She had a passion for games, excelling in Mah Jongg and bridge, and always kept a deck of cards handy—even if just to play a quick game of solitaire. Berta was also an extraordinary cook, bringing joy to her family with her culinary skills, and she found great comfort and meaning in attending Temple.

Berta’s funeral services will be held graveside at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey, on Monday, October 28th, at 11 a.m.

In honor of Berta’s memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the Israel Cancer Research Fund.
