Berta York, 88, of Fair Lawn, died peacefully in her home on January, 21, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Immigrating from Israel to America in the 1950s, Berta and her beloved late husband Isaac landed in Paterson, and then moved to Fair Lawn where they lived for over 50 years and raised two generations of children: her late daughter Jackie, and then her grandchildren Randi and Miles. She was known for her fighting spirit and fierce loyalty to those she loved. Berta is survived by her grandson Miles, granddaughter Randi and her husband Chris, and great grandchildren Dannie Dazzle and Luna Lavender.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 10:00 am on Friday, January 24 at King Solomon Memorial Park.

The family will host Shiva Friday from 12:30-8 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10-8 pm.

Memorial donations may be made in Berta’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
