Bruce Michael Herron, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA and Jamestown, NY, passed away quietly on Thursday, April 16, 2020 in Wyckoff, NJ. Bruce fought a long battle with Parkinson’s disease having been diagnosed at age 30. He remained strong and determined facing many challenges with great courage.
Bruce was born on August 9, 1953 and was raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Bruce graduated from Brentwood High School in 1971 and held a Bachelor of Science degree from Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh. Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Kalet Herron, his father, Dr. Seymour A. Herron and his sister, Joan H. Herron. He is survived by his mother of 53 years, Marilyn Brodsky Neuwirth Herron, sisters Dr. Carol Herron Lustig (Michael) and Susan Neuwirth Johnson (Mark), brother Thomas J. Herron (Jane Giliberto), nieces and nephews Joshua A. Wood, Dr. Sarah M. Wood (Dr. Daniel Yemin), Emily Herron Federico (Edward), Jesse A. Herron (Lacy) and Andrew Stoffo, great-nieces and nephews Simone and Judah Yemin, Helen and Alma Castro-Wood, EJ and Brandon Federico and Cole Herron, former wife Kathryn A. Herron plus numerous close cousins and friends.
He was proud of his 24-year career with American Locker Group in Jamestown, NY retiring as Purchasing Manager in 2005.
Bruce loved music, especially The Allman Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Santana, anything Clapton, Joe Bonamassa and an endless list of rock singers and guitar players.
A dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan, Bruce was often sporting attire from those teams. He loved golf, tennis and cycling. Bruce rode a recumbent bike with Team Hollyloft in Jamestown for a number of years and was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He was especially fond of Corvettes and was a proud member of the Chautauqua County Corvette Club. He embraced Judaism and was also a member of Congregation Hesed Abraham in Jamestown.
The Herron family is extremely grateful to the dedicated staff at Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff, NJ who lovingly cared for Bruce in his later years.
