BURSTEIN – David, 94, a 40 year resident of Tenafly, NJ and recently of Briarcliff Manor, NY, died on December 10th, due to complications from COVID19. David was the son of Julius and Hannah Burstein, immigrants from Poland who settled in Jersey City, where David was born on October 2, 1926. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1944 and following the war, graduated from Columbia University. David owned several retail stores in the greater NY metro area including Andrew’s Home Decorators, established at Cross County Center, Yonkers, in 1955 and Yardstick Decorators in Bayonne, from 1979 to 1992. Inseparable from his late brother Albert and sister-in-law Ruth of Tenafly, he had a buoyant sense of humor, brightening others’ lives with his poetry. Family, friends and customers were drawn to David by his warmth, smile and ever present laughter. He was an avid reader of The New York Times and did the Times Crossword religiously in pen. In later years, David and his beloved wife and partner Jackie, traveled abroad extensively. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline of 41 years, son Andrew Burstein and wife Nancy Isenberg of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, son Robert Burstein and wife Lois of Rockville, MD, grandson Joshua Burstein of Venice Beach, CA, stepson Adam Bree and wife Christine of Katonah, NY, stepdaughter Nancy Babyak and husband John of Harwich, MA, stepdaughter Jill Bree of New Haven, CT, and the grandchildren of his wife Jackie, Liam Bree, Brian Babyak and Jenna Babyak.
