Louis-Suburban Chapel Obituaries

General Information

Full Name: Eleanor Epstein
Date of Death: Tuesday, May 11, 2021

Eleanor Epstein (nee Buchansky) of Monroe Twp., formerly of Fair Lawn, wife of Norman (deceased 2011) for 60 wonderful years, passed away peacefully on May 11th. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents Lena and Jack Buchansky and her loving sister Gertrude Kessler (Nathan) and her loving brother Ben Buchansky (Leslie).

Eleanor leaves children Jerry (Judith); Linda; Carol; Janet Blum and David (Erin). She also leaves behind grandchildren Jason Epstein (Stefanie); Joshua Epstein (Allie); Bryan Blum (Abby); Melissa and Emily Blum and Nicole and Scott Epstein.  Eleanor was also the

overjoyed Great Grandma to Ava and Charlie Blum. Eleanor also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews.

Eleanor led a full life raising 5 children, working in a uniform store and “at the temple” (Beth Shalom, Fair Lawn) for many years.

Eleanor looked forward to having grand and great grandchildren and lit up any time she saw them in pictures or person.

She was a true fighter (even volunteering to assist the Israeli Army in Israel). She fought her increasing health issues with grace and fierce strength, proving that there are, in fact, 9 lives.

Her bluntness, candor, companionship and love will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
