General Information

Full Name: Feige Marion Brody
Date of Death: Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Feige Marion Brody nee Spilken of Freehold, NJ, passed away February 27, 2024. Born to Rachel and Charles Spilken on November 16,1933 in Brooklyn, New York. Feige was predeceased by her beloved husband, Barry Brody, her siblings, Simma Sulzer and Michael Spilken. She leaves to mourn her loss her three children, Steven (Cindy) Brody of Monroe, NJ, Mark (Pam) Brody of Delmar, NY and Linda (Gary) Bakst of Slingerlands, NY, her treasured grandchildren, Joshua (Megan) Brody, Samuel (Lauren Perotti) Brody, Nicolette (Mario) Salinas, Leah (Ben Johnson) Bakst, Daniel (Beth) Bakst, Scott (Kate Quinlan) Brody and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her adored brother, Terry (Barbara) Spilken, and her cherished nieces and nephews.

Though Feige endured hardships in her life, she always looked for the bright side. She was a wonderful role model. She loved the arts (all of them!), she read widely (and remembered what she read), cultivated many friendships, and was a gracious and welcoming host. She left her family a legacy of generosity, life-long learning and optimism.

In her professional life she helped countless students learn to read as a teacher in the Title I program in New York City for over 20 years. When she and her husband retired from teaching, they split time between homes in Livingston Manor in the Catskills and Boynton Beach, Florida and traveled extensively (another of Feige’s passions).

The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care provided by Ama in her last difficult year, and the special devotion of Feige’s nieces Sarah (and her kind and patient son Harrison) and Rachel (‘My Redhead’) who brought so much joy to her final years. Feige will be deeply missed by the many people whose paths she brightened with her warm smile and enthusiasm for life.
