George was a powerful, dedicated and determined man who cared deeply about the Jewish people. He worked very hard at being the best Federation president possible and took his responsibilities very seriously. I was honored to serve as his executive director and valued our partnership. May his memory be a blessing and may his family be comforted amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

While I have had the opportunity to meet George only a few times, I enjoyed our conversations. I am honored to say that his daughter, Harley is a good friend of mine. I know that she cherished her father and was so happy that he was a part of her son, Eli’s world. I am sure that Harley, Marjorie and Eli will miss George very much as a loving father, father-in-law, and grandfather. Condolences to the entire Liss family.

I met George 52 years ago when I was just 17 years old. He gave me my first full time job in his new clothing store in Palisades Park, NJ. He taught me much not only about business but about people and nurturing relationships. I am eternally grateful to him for taking me under his wing and for the trust he showed in me all those years ago. George was truly my first mentor who demonstrated kindness and thoughtful guidance not only to me but to all of the young people who came into Liss’ Young Men & Boys clothing store. The entire community benefited from George’s generosity of spirit. My sincerest condolences to Georges family and to all who knew him.
