Irving Bender of Randolph NJ, 89 years young, died peacefully on October 30th surrounded by his cherished family. Survived by his loving wife and High School Sweetheart, Rita, his daughters Stacy Sheehy (Neil), Randy, Jody Payne (Bryan), grandchildren Ryan, Brittany, Anastasia, Megan and Michael, and great grandson AJ.
Born in Brooklyn, attended New Utrecht HS then earned a fine arts degree from Cooper Union Institute and Master’s Degree from Columbia University. Irving had a career in Occupational Therapy, retired as director of programs at Greystone Hospital, founded and directed a sheltered workshop for the disabled.
His many passions included writing letters to the editor, gardening, educational travel, Jewish history, as well as local history – served as former president of the Randolph Historical Society. Irving was a kind, funny, unforgettable man, and a true gentleman.
A private funeral was held on November, 1st. .
