Jim Judd passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 7th, 2020. A long-time resident of Wyckoff, NJ; he was 62 years old. He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty years, Ellen Benson, and the two sons he adored, Sam and Ben. He is also survived by his Mother, Meryl Judd, of Port Washington, WI, and sister, Carrie Judd, also of Port Washington. He was the son of the late Donald Judd. Jim was the son-in-law of Minnie Benson and the late Albert Benson of Fair Lawn, NJ. He was a loving brother-in-law to Ira and Nancy Benson, Karen and Rick Papsin and Stuart and Jodi Benson, all of NJ. He was a devoted uncle to 10 nephews, 1 niece and great-uncle to 7.
Jim was born in Peoria, Illinois and raised in Springfield, Illinois. He graduated from Parks College-St. Louis University with a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering. He earned his law degree from The George Washington School of Law. He held positions as executive vice president at NYCE Corporation and Senior Vice President at Metavante prior to becoming a Co-Owner of CantorBuild, LLC, Franklin Lakes, NJ in 2012. Jim was also a trained pilot.
As a young boy, Jim developed and nurtured many interests including cooking, travel, and photography. These pursuits followed him throughout his adult life and he shared those passions with his wife, sons, and extended family. Jim was also an avid motorcyclist with a love of long-distance riding.
Volunteerism was an integral part of Jim’s life. He instilled this practice of giving back to the community to his sons and extended family. He and his wife Ellen were long time members of The Barnert Temple in Franklin Lakes, NJ, where Jim held various leadership positions over the years.
A virtual funeral service was held on Friday, April 10th officiated by Rabbi Rachel Steiner of The Barnert Temple, attended by Jim’s family and friends from all around the country. Memorial gifts may be made to The Barnert Temple or a charity of your choice.
