Full Name: Joan Phyllis Zeppinick

Joan was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, living on Ocean Parkway since the age of 7.  She was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School.  Joan worked as a secretary for Ebasco Services Incorporated in the World Trade Center for 18 years.  She also worked for St. Vincent’s Foster Care and Women of Reform Judaism.  After being in the first World Trade Center bombing of 1993, Joan was the subject of Dennis Hamill’s full-page article in The Daily News.  Joan enjoyed taking her dog, Sugar, for walks and socializing with her friends in the neighborhood. 

Joan is survived by her two daughters Debra Tester (Richard) of Elmwood Park, NJ, and Shelley Simons (Robert) of Tucson, AZ, her four grandchildren Eric (Jessica), Matthew, Sarah, and Rebecca, and her four great grandchildren Alexis, Jayden, Kaley, and Robbie.

The family welcomes friends and relatives to join them for Shiva immediately following the cemetery on Friday at the home of Debra and Richard Tester, and again on Sunday from 12:00 – 7:00 PM.
