Kenneth Lifshitz was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 18, 1951. He is the son of Bernice and Morris Lifshitz, father to Julia, Jackie and Sam, step-father to Monika Santos and Preston Smolinski, brother to Roberta Green, Uncle to Allison Green grandfather to 8 month old Phoenix McKenzie and was married for 22 years to Eva Lifshitz until their divorce in 2010.
After graduating from Midwood High School in Brooklyn, Ken attended Cornell University, majoring in English, but as he became increasingly involved in the music scene in Ithaca, NY, decided to apply to Ithaca College, where he received
his B.F.A. in Music and later pursued his Master’s Degree in Music at N.Y.U. His love of music led him to share his talent on the Double Bass through participating in various local Classical Music Orchestras through the years and his
love of literature and history resulted in him writing several fiction and non-fiction novels. But one of the ventures he was most proud of was pioneering a vineyard on his family’s homestead in Monroe, NY which became known as SilverStream Winery. Though he pursued these and other passions, including cooking, stamp collecting, books, art and antique collecting; Professionally, he made his living as a Computer Programmer and Systems Analyst, for which he was self-taught.
Ken had a heart of gold, always reaching out to help and support those in need and adding to peoples’ lives and to the world in a myriad of ways. He will be missed tremendously by so very many whose lives he touched so deeply.
