Leonard (Lynda) Frankel, 92 of Morristown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on September 5th 2022.
Beloved husband of Marilyn Marshall Frankel for 68 years. Devoted father of Bruce (Kathi) Frankel, Susan Reader (pre-deceased), Haylee (Jay) Messing, Arnell Dowret. Proud grandfather of Stacy (Chris) Steinmetz, Jennifer Reader (Ashley), Blaine (Shannon) Frankel, Melissa (Jay) Alderton, Jarett (Aakanksha) Messing, Julie Messing, Bridget and Valerie Dowret, and great grandfather of Nikolas, Aidan, Grace, Blake and Kendra Steinmetz, Madelyn and Jackson Frankel. Loving brother of Rosalyn Tishberg, Ronald Cohen and Jordan Cohen.
He also leaves behind many caring and loving nieces and nephews and friends, including Michelle Zuccarelli.
He was preceded in death by his parents Selma and Sam Frankel, foster parents Lila and Sol Cohen, brother Ronnie Cohen and daughter Susan Reader
Graduate of George Westinghouse H.S. Graduate of radar maintenance school, US Air Force where he served from 1948-1952.
Founded and operated several businesses over his lifetime including Frankel Travel, Roxbury NJ Hess Station, Frankel Beer and Soda (Brooklyn, NY) and Frankel Trucking (NYC)
Former Scoutmaster for Troop 410, Brooklyn. Order of the Arrow member. Former member of Knights of Pythias, Brigham Chapter, Brooklyn. Former affiliations with Temple Kadimah, Brooklyn. President of Lake Hopatcong Jewish Community Center, member of Temple Shalom, CBST, NYC. Former member of Morris County Crisis Intervention Hotline and Roxbury Rotary. Member of Tri-Ess, National Board Member of Tri-Ess, member of International Foundation of Gender Education and affiliated with the Gay and Lesbian Center in NYC and Times Square dancer. Volunteer for American Red Cross and Lyons Veteran Hospital.
Funeral services and burial will be held 12:30 on Friday, September 9th at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ.
