Full Name: Leonard Weinstein
Date of Death: Wednesday, April 15, 2020

Dr. Leonard Weinstein, born October 15th, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on Wednesday, April 15th of Covid-related complications, at The Gardens of Monroe in Monroe Township, NJ.  He was 88 years old.  

Leonard lived in New York and New Jersey for almost his entire life.  He worked as a cardiologist for over 40 years and practiced primarily at St. Joseph’s and Barnert Hospitals in Paterson, NJ.  He married his wife Blanche on April 20th, 1966, and they were married for 31 years before Blanche passed away in 1997.  After he retired, he moved to Monroe Township and lived in the Greenbriar at Wittingham community with Bernice (Bunny) Nimar, who passed away in 2012.  After suffering some medical issues, he lived in several assisted living facilities in Monroe and Freehold prior to moving to The Gardens at Monroe in 2019.  Leonard was an avid tennis player, and he enjoyed traveling the world. Always ready with a joke, Leonard will forever be remembered for his wry sense of humor and his love of laughter.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Harry, and his mother, Pearl.  He is survived by his son Mark Snyder and his wife, Janis; his daughter Randi DeBrito, along with her daughters Brianna and Kayla; and his son Paul Weinstein and his wife, Alyssa, along with their children Benjamin and Madeline.  Leonard was also loved by his son-in-law, Manny DeBrito, who passed away in 2019. Leonard’s daughter, Mindy Snyder, passed away in 1997.

A funeral service will be held at some point in the future.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund (njprf.org).
