Martin Perlman, 80, a proud Navy vet who worked for Atlas Copco in Wayne as an employee benefits coordinator before leaving due to complications from multiple sclerosis, passed away Dec. 21 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Martin was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Leah and Joseph Perlman. He lived in Fair Lawn for over 40 years before relocating to Highland Park to be closer to his children. His final place of residence was the Regency Heritage nursing home in Somerset, N.J.

Martin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bonnie, who passed away in 2006 after battling breast cancer. He was also preceded in death by his brother Hal, his sister Tina, and a younger sister who died at the age of 2. He is survived by his son, Jeffery, his daughter, Cindy, his grandchildren, Asher and Betty, as well as his extended family and many friends.

Martin was a history buff who enjoyed spending time with his family, talking politics, watching science fiction, and sharing memories of his life with Bonnie.  

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 27th at 11:00 A.M. at the Americus Cemetery, 433 N Midland Ave, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663.

Following the service, there will be a memorial service at 3:30 P.M. for those unable to attend the burial, as well as for anyone else who would like to join. The family will begin gathering at 2 P.M. on Wednesday at Jeffrey’s residence in Highland Park. A Zoom link will be made available for friends and family who would like to join the memorial service remotely.

The family will also be gathering at Cindy’s residence in Aberdeen, on Thursday at 11:00 A.M.
