Renea Zukerberg (nee Oper) of Paterson, New Jersey and later Mountain Lakes and Monroe Township, passed away peacefully with her family in attendance on December 14,2020. She is survived by her sons Ron and Paul, Daughters in Laws, Wendy and Ilana, and grandchildren Rachel, Josh, Jesse and Eli. Her beloved husband Herb of 59 years and son Robert predeceased her. Renea was born in 1928 and graduated from Rider College with a degree in Early Education. Renea was a devoted Mother and Wife and encouraged her husband to follow his dream of becoming a musician. With her support, he became Herbie Zane, the band leader and Bar Mitzvah king. As a young woman, Renea was diagnosed with breast cancer and battled cancer throughout her life. She was awarded the Woman of the Year, by the American Cancer Society for her volunteer work with breast cancer survivors and patients under going treatment. Renea was also involved with Hadassah and served as President. Renea was an excellent knitter and after her children were grown, started a novelty sock company, Charmers with her Mother (Nana, Ann Oper). Her products were sold all over the country. Renea moved to the Regency in Monroe Township and with her Husband started the Yiddish club with now over 250 standing members. Renea was known to tell jokes, educate, and be an inspiration to many. She was known to be a super Mahjong, Bridge and Canasta player and enjoyed many afternoons with her friends. Renea spent her winters in Florida enjoying a wonderful retirement. Renea can be remembered as a “fashionista”, always dressed in the latest styles and looking ever so beautiful. Her children and grandchildren were center in her life. Who can forget the wonderful holidays and delicious foods enjoyed! She will be missed by many relatives and friends. During her final days, Renea remarked that she was so very blessed to have so many wonderful people in her life. Her positive attitude, energy, and zest for life will be an inspiration for many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, The Chabad of Monroe Township, local food bank or charity of choice. A remembrance ceremony will be held once it is safe.
