Robert Ives Sann (Bob), 89 of Clearwater, Florida passed away September 23, 2019 at Suncoast Hospice. Bob was born and raised in New York City. He moved to Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, where he lived for 40 years. He graduated from the City College of New York (CCNY) with a bachelor’s degree, and earned his masters and Ph.D. from NYU. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Sylvia. Robert is survived by his wife Myra, his son Ronald (Debra), and his daughters, Marcia (Mitchell) and Melissa; grandchildren, Stefanie, Evan, Samantha, Shayna and Aden. He worked as a mechanical engineer for companies such as Bendix, Curtiss-Wright, and Howe Richardson. While at these companies, he worked on many projects for the NASA space program. Bob also taught mechanical engineering at CCNY, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Stevens Tech, and Manhattan College.
Among his many interests, Bob had a strong passion for New Orleans Dixieland Jazz, and he was an avid guitar and banjo player. He played in local community jazz bands.
Bob was a very hard working man and was always very concerned about his family.
His humor, kindness, and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Robert’s funeral was held at Riverside Cemetery in Saddle Brook, NJ on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
