Sol Baranow, age 97, of Stanhope, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.  Sol was born 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, to Frank and Rose (nee Aurutin).  Sol was a devoted husband for over 67 years to his wife Maida, who passed away in December of 2022. He is survived by his son Joseph and his wife Karen, and his daughter Gail Baranow.  Dear grandfather of Melissa Baranow. Loving brother-in-law to Joel Baer and his wife Edwina.  Sol’s loving personality will be missed by all, including his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Sol served in the US Navy during World War II and earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer.  He worked in aeronautics, repairing the skins of the aircrafts which cover the outer surface of their wings and fuselage.
