Sydelle A. Resnick Singer (nee Friedman) of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 at age 89. She was born on January 5th, 1932, to Isidore and Fannie Friedman. Sydelle was a proud Bronx native and a graduate of James Monroe High School.
Sydelle is predeceased by her first husband, Marvin Resnick, her second husband, Gus Singer, and her daughter, Stefanie Singer. She was the beloved and devoted mother of Arlene (Bruce) Olephant, Robin (Rick) Frizzell, Bruce (Beth) Resnick, and Shari (Jeffrey) Hudes. She cherished her role as #1 grandmother to Melissa and Jason Olephant; Meredith and Bradley Frizzell; Ivy, Rachel, Michael, and Alyson Resnick; Molly and Joey Wozniak; and Sophie and Joshua Hudes. She was the beloved sister of Jerry and Rhoda Friedman and Warren Resnick, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends. She is also survived by her “daughter” Carol Hirsch and by her treasured aide, Missy Adja.
Sydelle enjoyed working in the Fair Lawn school system as an administrative aide and loved her ten years as a corporate assistant in the advertising department at Toys `R’ Us, where she maintained cherished friendships with her coworkers in the 25 years since her retirement.
Sydelle enjoyed playing Mah Jongg with the same friends for fifty years, as well as family vacations to Wildwood Crest and the Catskills and relaxing at Fair Lawn’s Memorial Pool. She loved Broadway musicals and anything dark chocolate, especially Mallomars, Milano cookies and Kit-Kat bars. She was a long time member of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center and a lifelong member of Hadassah.
Sydelle was the true definition of a “people person”. She bonded with most people she met, including people in waiting rooms, bank tellers, flight attendants, her physical therapists and Tony Danza. Sydelle had a unique name, fitting for such a unique and special person. She will be greatly missed.
