Sylvia Glazer (Horowitz) passed away at the age of 99 on February 12, 2021. Sylvia was born in Bethel, NY, on October 29, 1921, to Katie and Abraham Horowitz. She grew up on a farm in the heart of the Sullivan County Catskills, later moving to the village of Swan Lake and graduating from Liberty High School. Sylvia met her beloved husband of 71 years, Bernard (Barney) Glazer, in Swan Lake, and traveled across the country with him during his Army Air Force training that preceded his deployment to England during WWII. Sylvia and Barney moved to Fair Lawn in 1951, where they lived on Chandler Drive. They raised three children, Nancy, Gale, and Merrill, all of whom attended Fair Lawn public schools and graduated from Fair Lawn High School. Sylvia and her family were members of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center. 

 

Sylvia is predeceased by her husband, Barney, who died in 2013. She is also predeceased by her sister, Rosalyn Grossman, and her brother, Hy Horowitz. She is survived by her children, Nancy, Gale, and Merrill, and their spouses, Bill Swift (Nancy), Dan Hunt (Gale), and Isabel Glazer (Merrill); her four grandchildren, Rebecca Glazer-Swift, Brad Glazer-Swift, Allison Vigna, and Jennifer Holzman; and her five great-grandchildren, Tristan, Joanna, Gavin, Ava, and Maya.  Sylvia moved to the Stein Assisted Living in Somerset, NJ, in 2020, where she made many new friends and enjoyed participating in social, recreational, and cultural activities.
