Yuri Berger, 63, of Fair Lawn NJ tragically left this earth on July 29, 2020. Yuri was born in Moscow, Russia on June 13, 1957 to Nelly Berger and Lev Berger. As a child he loved walks with his mother Nelly, bike riding, and was an avid reader. He studied in a German language school in Russia and as a college student he became an expert in chemistry and electrical engineering. He married his one and only true love Ella Berger on December 2, 1978. They met through mutual friends and never wavered in their marriage vows for 41 years. In 1982, Yuri and Ella were excited to bring their one-year-old son Leon to a new and welcoming country. First residing with their family in Queens they bought their current home in Fair Lawn in 1987. In the next year, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Reina Berger Marszalek. He worked for many years as a chemist with hydrogen fuel cells and later in life as a real estate appraiser. He is survived by his dearest wife Ella, parents Nelly and Lev Berger, children Leon Berger and Reina Berger Marszalek, daughter-in-law Hila Berger, son-in-law Kyle Marszalek, grandchildren Levi, Ayva and Katya, cousins Inna Rossina and Marina Rossina, sister-in-law Inna Botvinov and her husband Mikhail Botvinov and their daughters Julia and Nicole, and Nicole’s husband Rich Gill, and their daughter Calina.He will be remembered for his commitment to family, ingenuity, his big heart, and his driving principle of treating others as he would like to be treated.
