Full Name: Edith Spatz
Date of Death: Saturday, May 3, 2025
Edith Spatz (née Silver), 97, of Brooklyn, NY passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved mother of Janis Joffe and Robin Moffatt. Loving and devoted grandmother of Monica Bousquet (Christopher), Nina Joffe, and Steven Moffatt. Proud great-grandmother of Ethan Bousquet. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law, Steve Joffe, and countless friends and family members.
Edith was born in Braunschweig, Germany in 1927 to Ida and Max Silver. She immigrated to America in 1936 through Ellis Island, as she and her family bravely fled Nazi Germany. They were grateful for the opportunities and refuge America provided, and they worked hard to contribute to and thrive in this country. After marriage, Edith became a single mother raising her two daughters in 1960’s Brooklyn while working as a bookkeeper. She was fiercely independent, had a great sense of humor, an endless love for all things chocolate, and a razor-sharp wit, which she retained throughout the entirety of her long and full life.
