General Information
Full Name: Elizabeth Cynthia Eidelsberg
Date of Death: Saturday, March 29, 2025
Elizabeth (Betsy) Eidelsberg died on March 29, 2025 of complications from surgery at the age of 84.
She was a remarkable woman. Born Elizabeth Horwitz to her parents Edward and Rose, she excelled at Plainfield High School in NJ. After graduating from Douglas College (Rutgers University), she married Joel Eidelsberg, her husband of 39 years. She also started her career. Her first position was serving as a Computer Programmer for Bell Laboratories. This prestigious job set her on a path of lifelong professional success.
She would say that her next endeavor was even more important – becoming a mother. Betsy demonstrated unconditional love to her son Glenn Eidelsberg, who has significant disabilities. She will be forever cherished by her daughter Wendy Lucht and husband Brett, and her grandsons Ian and Jeremy.
Betsy was an advanced contract bridge player. Her love of the game only grew over the years. After spending most of her life in Fair Lawn, NJ, she moved to Hilton Head, SC to live her best life.
She is grieved by countless people, especially her brother Paul Horwitz, her best friends Carolyn & Jim Maher, bridge partners Roni Zerowin and Marie Krieger, and friend Lucy Malka. She also leaves behind adoring cousins, nieces, nephews, and many new friends. To know Betsy was to love her, and her legacy will remain in our hearts.

My sister in law Betsy,
A gentle, kind living woman, who forged ahead with quiet strength. We celebrated many Seders and Jewish holidays together. filled with many laughs. It was after my brother Joel’s passing we started meeting at Bloomingdales in the city. It was there that we came to share our thoughts of being mothers and wives and finding ourselves in retirement .
May Betsy rest in peace
Wendy, Sending love to you, Brett, Ian and Jeremy. You have so many of your mom’s traits: accomplished professional, dedicated mother, beloved family member and friend. I am so glad she gave the world you. Peace & blessings.
