Date of Death: Thursday, October 30, 2025
Esther Fischer Masse Rosen, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose gracious presence and unwavering optimism enriched every life she touched, passed away peacefully on October 30. She was born on November 27, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, the cherished daughter of Gertrude and Irving Fischer.
Growing up in Brooklyn alongside her beloved brother, Teddy (Anita), Esther developed an early love for life. She carried that joyful spirit throughout her 83 years, always approaching the world with a sense of wonder, gratitude, and a remarkable level-headedness.
Esther met and married Edward Masse, with whom she embarked on the first chapter of her life. They settled in Fair Lawn, NJ, where she dedicated herself to raising their four beautiful children, who became the absolute light of her life. A true people person, Esther held various jobs throughout the years, effortlessly making friends wherever she went. She had a unique ability to connect with anyone and everyone.
After Edward’s passing, Esther was blessed with a second great love when Sheldon Rosen came into her life. They merged their lives perfectly, spending many happy years together, initially in Maryland before relocating to New Jersey to be closer to family. Together, they enjoyed traveling, cherished their blended family, and shared a deep companionship.
Esther was a truly classy lady, known for always being perfectly put together—she was never seen without her makeup, beautifully dressed, and accessorized with her favorite jewelry. Yet, beneath the glamour was a deeply humble soul who was perpetually happy and grateful. For Esther, family was the most important thing, and she cultivated a lifetime of cherished moments with her loved ones. She also famously enjoyed the thrill of shopping, particularly finding a good deal at Costco.
Esther is survived by her loving children: Julie (Irwin), Jeanette (Dave), Charles (Maureen), Gregg (Lynne), Janie (Alan), and Gary.
She leaves behind a vibrant legacy in her 13 grandchildren: Sarah, Jenna, Rebecca, Edward, Jake, Al, Zachary, Griffin, Irisa, Payton, David, Hallie, and Skylar, as well as her 7 great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Esther’s even-keeled temperament, her enduring kindness, and her ability to find happiness in every day will be profoundly missed by her family and many friends.

I lived across the street (on Elden Place) from the Masse family, and as a teenager (and babysitter) nearly lived in their house. I have fabulous memories of Esther and the Masse kids, who I absolutely adored. My heart goes out to them as they navigate the loss of their LOVING mother. I pray that the wonderful memories of her will bring them peace.
