Gerald (Jerry) Platt, age 96, of Fair Lawn, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2024. Jerry is survived by his sons Dr. Steven Platt and Kevin Platt and by his brother Theodore Platt. Jerry was married to Joyce Platt and had a wonderful marriage lasting 58 years until Joyce’s death in 2010.

Jerry was born and raised in Paterson, NJ and moved to Fair Lawn, NJ where he lived for the past 62 years. He was involved in commercial and residential real estate in the Northern New Jersey area and was the owner of Rapid Realty. Jerry lived a full life with many accomplishments and contributions to his community.

Jerry served in the United States Army as an X-ray Technician stationed in Korea with the 20th Infantry Regiment Medical Detachment. In 2018, Jerry was honored to have Congressman Josh Gottheimer present him with the World War II Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button for his service to the United States.

Jerry was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a former President of the Fair Lawn Community Blood Bank, former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Fair Lawn Jewish Center. In addition, Jerry was a proud member of the Jewish War Veterans.
