General Information
Full Name: Glenn Jacobs
Date of Death: Friday, July 4, 2025
Glenn Stuart Jacobs passed away July 4, 2025, doing what he loved, running a 5K run in Leonia NJ. He was born in Jamaica, Queens, NY in June 1948. Glenn was the son of Dr. Harold and Mrs. Lydia Jacobs, of West Long Branch NJ.
He graduated from Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch NJ in 1966 and received his BA from Ohio State University in Social Science in 1970. He also completed graduate courses at Rutgers University. Since about 1995, he made his home in Englewood NJ.
Prior to retirement, Glenn worked for over 20 years at the NJ Department of Labor & Workforce Development in Trenton as an Employment & Training Specialist. He also had performed in roles related to human resources and recruiting at other companies in NJ. He had been an adjunct professor at Monmouth University. He was intelligent, analytical, well-read, and was concerned about the direction this country is taking.
Glenn was an avid runner. He was “The Mayor” always greeting fellow runners from the North Jersey Masters Running Club, Central Jersey Road Runners Club, and NJ Shore Athletic Club. He continued to accumulate age group running awards over his lifetime until the week he passed away. His t-shirt collection (mostly race t-shirts) may be over 1000.
He was a proud Ohio State alum and enjoyed watching their football games on TV with his older sister. He made sure to be there for all family events — weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, funerals, baby-namings and bris’s. Glenn was proud of his Jewish heritage, supported Israel, and was proud of the fact that the State of Israel was born within about a month of his birth in 1948.
Glenn loved his family. Glenn leaves behind two sisters: Suzanne (Pete) Miller, Solano Beach CA and Maura (Jeff) Resnikoff, West Long Branch NJ, a brother: Steven (Sheila) Jacobs, Flagstaff AZ, an uncle Bruno Zarkower, Saratoga Springs NY, and many cousins, nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by nephew Jason M. Miller.

I will remember Glenn running on the beach… My condolences to Maura and the family.
It’s been a year already. Glenn, your dearly missed, but you have left me with great memories of our friendship. Thanks so much.
Back in my working days, I would hear a few lines from an oldie and call Glenn. He never failed to impress with the singer or groups name, and year of the song in question. I can’t recall ever stumping the wizzard. Just an outstanding guy.
For over 15 years Glenn was recognized by all as enjoying an annual run that I sponsor more than any other runner. Always enthusiastic and grateful for what he called his favorite run, the Annual Holiday Memorial Run, which recognizes individuals who have contributed to our sport of running and have now passed on, will this December bring special attention and recognition to an individual that always lifted the spirits of anyone who had the privilege and good fortune to be in his presence. Our local runners will deeply miss Glenn. We were privileged to have had him as a friend. He will be deeply missed.
