General Information
Full Name: Helene Eskind
Date of Death: Wednesday, May 13, 2026
Helene Eskind passed away peacefully on the morning of May 13, 2026.
Helene was born on January 3, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Harold and Ruth Winkler. She was raised in Bergenfield, NJ, where she met her husband (predeceased), Stuart Eskind. The two were married on August 28, 1966, and began building their life together in Bergenfield, where they welcomed their daughter, Michelle and a son, Marc. They later moved to Paramus, where Helene would spend most of her life.
After dedicating herself to raising her children, Helene pursued a career in the food service industry, a natural fit for someone with a lifelong passion for cooking and food. Over the years, she worked as a restaurant cook, school cafeteria cook, corporate chef, and daycare center cook. She also fulfilled a dream of owning her own cake business. Helene loved watching the Food Network, collecting cookbooks, and trying new restaurants whenever she could.
Above all else, Helene’s greatest joy in life was her family — especially her grandchildren: Max and Joshua Goldman, and Jack and Dusk Eskind. She treasured every moment spent with them. When they were young, she loved playing games, cooking together, and filling visits with laughter. As they grew older, she cherished phone calls, holiday gatherings, and continuing the close bond she shared with each of them.
Helene will always be remembered for her spunky personality, quick wit, and sharp sense of humor. Being around her meant laughter, warmth, and unforgettable memories. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and anyone who knew her understood what a remarkable woman she was.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle (Andrew) Goldman; her son, Marc (Robin) Eskind; her cherished grandchildren, Max and Joshua Goldman, and Jack and Dusk Eskind; her sister, Brenda (Alvin) Kravitz; her cousin, Lois Bernhardt; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
