Marks-Ira, age 79, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Wednesday June 11, 2025.  Beloved husband of Joan Marks and devoted father of Shari Boettcher (Erik), David Marks (Deb), and Peter Jirak.  He was a cherished grandfather to Alexis and Delaney Boettcher, Turner Marks, and Jamie Jirak. 

Prior to his retirement, Ira was the Director of the Office of Emergency Management for the Borough of Fair Lawn.  He was a long-time public servant who served many years with the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps and various other emergency response teams in New Jersey.  Ira also worked for many years with different paint manufacturers as a salesperson. Ira’s priority was always his family. He enjoyed spending time with them whether it was at their house or family trips across the country.

Donations in memory of Ira Marks can be made to your own favorite charity, local volunteer emergency services organization, or the American Cancer Society.  

Services will be at 11 am on Sunday at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 West), Fair Lawn, NJ. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery, Monmouth Junction, NJ.

Shiva will be held at 0-54 Yost Place, Fair Lawn, NJ on Sunday from 5 pm to 8 pm and Monday from 3 pm to 7 pm.
