Jacqualine Brotbacker, 96, passed away peacefully on July 3 at home. She was born on July 1, 1929, in New York City to Pauline Rehfeld Boehm and David Boehm.

Jacqualine was a talented artist, attending the New York School of Music and Art, and later graduating from NYU in 1950. She worked in human resource management before marrying the love of her life, Henry Brotbacker, in 1960. She was a family-oriented, loving homemaker, raising three children and later thoroughly enjoying her eight grandchildren. She was known for her love of travel and sense of adventure.

Jacqualine is survived by her daughters Beth Smith (David), Harriett Nachum (Jacob), and Teri Kirsch (Cliff). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Amanda Smith, Jessica Smith, Rachel Smith (Mickey), Kayla Nachum, Daniel Nachum, Abby Kirsch, and Emma Kirsch. In addition, she is survived by her nephew, Edward Hamell, and niece, Mickey Hamell.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Brotbacker; her granddaughter, Julia Kirsch; her sister, Arline Hamell; her brother-in-law, Matthew Hamell; her nephew, Paul Hamell; and her niece, Jill Hamell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7, at 1:15 p.m. at the Louis Suburban Jewish Chapel (13-01 Broadway, Fair Lawn, NJ), followed by interment at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemetery (735 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ).

Following interment, Shiva will be observed until 9 p.m. at the home of Teri and Cliff Kirsch, 227 Elmwood Ave., Glen Rock, NJ. A second Shiva will be held at the same location on Tuesday, July 8, from 4–9 p.m.

On Friday, July 11, a Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. at the home of Beth Smith, 43 Stirling Lane, Wayne, NJ, followed by Shiva until 6 p.m.
