It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose De Jesus Piedrahita Ruiz, age 92, of Paterson, New Jersey, who passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at CareOne at Wayne Assisted Living.

Born on July 8, 1933, in Amagá, Colombia, to Jose Maria Piedrahita and Wbaldina Ruiz, Jose immigrated to the United States in 1971, leaving behind his wife and three children. He spent more than half of his life in the U.S., and although he was never able to return to his homeland, he carried Colombia in his heart. Throughout his life, he was a mentor, a guide, and a loyal friend to many.

A devoted father, Jose is survived by his son, Steven. As a stepfather, he stepped in fully and wholeheartedly, becoming a constant and loving presence in the lives of Felipe, Rosemarie (Rosie), Margarita (Margie) and her son Daniel, Jose (Lucky), and Jesus (GC). He embraced each of them as his own, showing up for every milestone and moment he could. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy, and the memories he created with them will last a lifetime.

Jose was a loving, caring, and kind man whose warmth, quiet humor, and steady presence touched all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the love he gave so freely.

He was a devoted and loving husband to Carmen L. Piedrahita, never leaving her side and always placing her needs before his own. Today, we say goodbye with sorrow, but also with deep gratitude.

Thank you for everything you were, for everything you gave us, and for everything you planted in our lives.
Thank you for being the husband, the father, and the admirable man we loved so deeply.

You will never be forgotten. You will always live on in our hearts.
