With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of our beloved Kanaiyalal A. Patel, known to all who loved him as Kanu or Vishnu, who left us peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on August 11, 1946, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, Kanu built a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. A pharmacist and entrepreneur at heart, he ran his own pharmacy in the Bronx, a testament to his tireless work ethic and his belief in family above all else.

Kanu was selfless to his core, never asking for anything in return. He gave generously of himself, his time, and his resources, always putting the needs of his family and friends before his own. His presence brought warmth and steadiness to everyone around him, and his love was felt in every quiet act of support he offered throughout his life.

Family

He is lovingly survived by his wife Rita; his daughters Mona and Tina; his son-in-law Peter Figueredo, husband of Mona, and their daughters Jaya and Priya; his son-in-law Paren Patel, husband of Tina, and their sons Jake and Ryan; his brother Mukesh and sister Kusum; and all those whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
