General Information
Full Name: Max Krown
Date of Death: Tuesday, January 6, 2026
Max Krown passed away peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living in Wayne, NJ on January 6, 2026. He was 100 years old.
Born August 31, 1925 in the Bronx, NY, Max always had funny stories to tell of his childhood. He was kind and had a great sense of humor. He attended Townsend Harris High School, City College, Stanford University (during WWII when he was drafted) and graduated with an engineering degree from City College of NY.
Max met his future wife, Rosalyn (Roz), at a Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity party. They were married in 1948 and moved to St. Louis, MO where he worked for McDonnell Aircraft. Max and Roz returned to NJ, buying a house in Fair Lawn. In NJ, he worked for Curtiss Wright, Bendix, and Singer Kearfott. The work he did in aerospace helped get the USA to the moon.
In Fair Lawn, he and Roz raised two daughters, Elaine and Diane. Max and Roz had five grandchildren: Aimee, Daisy, Dale, Rob and Sara. They were also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Dana, Penelope, and Leonel. Rosalyn predeceased Max in 2013.
Max was “Mr. Fix It.” He was great at repairing most things, prided himself on his beautiful lawn, kept his cars in tip-top shape and helped his daughters and granddaughters with math homework. He had an expansive stereo system and taught his family the beauty and value of classical music.
He belonged to a harmonica club and had an extensive collection of harmonicas. The Beer Barrel Polka was a family favorite. In his later years, he and his companion Inge attended many functions, especially those at the Fair Lawn Senior Center where he was treasurer of the Friday Social Club.
His 100th birthday was celebrated on his birthday, August 31, 2025 with friends and family. This milestone was a great tribute to a wonderful man. It’s impossible to sum up 100 years of life in a few paragraphs. We loved him so much.
