General Information
Full Name: Myra K. Sann
Date of Death: March 30, 2025
Myra K. Sann, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and beloved elementary school teacher, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025 in Clearwater, Florida at the age of 92.
Born on March 26, 1933 in New York City, Myra was a New Yorker at heart. She grew up in The Bronx with her Mother and Father, a dentist who had a dental office in their home. Myra graduated from the Bronx High School of Science in 1950, which is something she cherished throughout her life. She was actively involved in the Bronx High School of Science Alumni Association, participating in Alumni trips and reunions with her classmates throughout the years, including many Zoom reunions in recent years.
Myra attended The City College of New York, earning a Bachelor’s degree and later a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She dedicated nearly 30 years to teaching in the New York City Public School System, most of them teaching at P.S. 77 and P.S.104 in the Bronx.
She met her husband, Robert I. Sann, at Grossinger’s Hotel in the Catskills Mountains, married him at Burnside Manor in the Bronx, and was married to Robert for 59 years before he passed away in 2019. They lived in Yonkers, New York and then moved to Englewood Cliffs, N.J. where they lived for 40 years, raising their 3 children.
While living in New Jersey, raising her 3 children and teaching full time in the Bronx, Myra still managed to find time to be actively involved in her community.
After living in Englewood Cliffs for 40 years, Myra & Robert retired to Clearwater, Florida to be closer to family. Myra loved to travel, read and participate in book clubs, swim and play Mahjong. She was committed to charitable organizations, especially Jewish organizations such as ORT (she was President of her ORT chapter in NJ), and Hadassah.
Myra was most proud of and devoted to her 3 children and 5 grandchildren. She is survived by her children Ronald Sann (Debbie), Marcia Miller (Mitchell) and Melissa Sann (Marc), and her grandchildren Stefanie, Evan, Samantha, Shayna and Aden. Myra will be deeply missed by her family and friends and her memory will be cherished forever.
Donations in Myra’s memory can be made to Hadassah, Bronx Science Alumni Foundation, ORT, or Moment Magazine.
