Sam Silverberg of Monroe Township, a beloved husband, father, and
grandfather as well as an accomplished advertising executive, passed away Sunday, July 21 at age 86, surrounded by his loving family. In declining health for the last year, he succumbed to a short illness.

Born in Paterson, N.J. the son of Helen and Jake Silverberg, he grew up in Newark where he graduated from Barringer High School. While attending Fairleigh Dickinson University, he began his six-decade career in the advertising business. He also proudly served his country as a member of the New Jersey National Guard. As the co-owner of Douglas Samuel Advertising, an award- winning, Montville-based agency, he achieved great personal satisfaction and professional success servicing regional and nationally recognized clients.

Beyond his career, he cherished time with his family and large circle of friends who all appreciated his gregarious personality, sense of humor, and talent for telling a great story. An avid golfer whose colorful escapades on the course were legendary, he was also a avid fan of the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, the music of Frank Sinatra, and classic movies. He especially found great joy in his relationship with his musically gifted granddaughters Jadyn and Adyna Silverberg who adored their “G-Pa”.

Sam is survived by his wife Leslie (Emmer), the love of his life for 61 years; his two devoted sons Richard of New York City and Jeff and his wife Zahava of Montville; and his granddaughters. Survivors also include his sister and brother-in- law Susan and John Cichowski of Rockaway Township.

    Dear Leslie and Family,

    We are so saddened by Sam’s passing. We have many fond memories of time spent with him on and off the golf course!
    We especially enjoyed having a good laugh after listening to Sam’s stories! He was also so proud of his granddaughters’ accomplishments. Sam will be missed and remembered by many.
    Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    My dearest Friend thought of as a brother . Best of friends for over 80 years. We went different roads occasionally over that time, but never lost touch with each other . I hope In the Wonderful place you’re at know how much I miss you… you’re at peace is the only comfort I feel
