Dr. Sybil M. Schreiber (nee Cohen) passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024 after a brief illness at the age of 84.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Cohen and her beloved husband, Gary.

A native of Titusville, PA, Sybil called Montvale, New Jersey home for most of her adult life. Similarly, she spent most of her adult life leading the dedicated staff at the Mental Health Center of Passaic as its long- standing Executive Director, a title she held until her death. A proud graduate of Vassar College, Sybil received her MSW from the Smith College Graduate School of Social Work and her PhD from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work of Yeshiva University. Sybil’s life was dedicated to service – to her chronically ill husband, her parents, and the patients in need of counselling at “The Clinic” (as she called it). She was active in her synagogue, serving as the co-Ritual Committee Chair, and served on countless community boards over the years.

Dr. Schreiber is survived by her niece, Andrea Dobin and her children, Grant and Nina, as well as her nephew, Marc Dobin, and his children, Alex (Ashley and their daughter Everly) and Michele (Eric) and countless cousins who remember her fondly.

Shiva will be observed at Sybil’s former residence at 31 Madison Ave., Montvale, New Jersey following the burial and on Thursday, May 9, 2024 commencing at 3pm.
