General Information

Full Name: Sylvy E. Cela
Date of Death: Saturday June 6, 2026

Sylvy Esther Cela (nee Sylva Havrankova) has tragically passed away unexpectedly in her home in Fair Lawn, New Jersey on June 6th, 2026, at only 50 years of age. Sylvy was a kind, bright, and creative soul, filled with sunshine, love and optimism, she was beloved by nearly everyone who’s life she touched.

She was born in Prague, Czech Republic. She lived a carefree, idyllic childhood with her parents, Petr and Jana, and her brother David splitting time between their apartment in the city, and her country house in Psov, near Karlovy Vary. During this time, she became particularly close to her Maternal Grandmother Marie who helped instill in her a love of animals and nature that persisted until the day she was taken from us.

As she grew and matured, she developed a love of travel and exploring other cultures. She traveled all throughout Europe and North America, and even lived for several years in Italy. She eventually relocated to the U.S. in order to study the Arts and Theatre, where she met her Husband, Aaron, settled down, and had her beloved daughter Sadie. While in the U.S. she further explored her passions, working as a florist, a veterinary technician, and to her great pride for Apple. She worked with Apple for over 10 years, and she dedicated herself fully to the people she met there. She loved her coworkers, whom she believed to be kindred spirits, and she dedicated herself to helping each and every customer turning a stressful situation into a joyous one through her extreme competence and the force of her personality.

Through it all, and despite her many adventures and travel she never stopped loving the Czech Republic, and she always had mixed feelings about settling so far from her ancestral home, never the less the loved her family and the life she created for herself here. She is survived by her husband Aaron, her daughter Michelle “Sadie,” and her brother David.

In honor of her memory, her love of animals, and her huge heart, we ask those that are interested to please make a donation in the name the the ASPCA (https://www.aspca.org/)
